These are links to websites that we have found the most useful in our research. Other links will be found in relevant sections (e.g. Places), especially the List of Sources.

Please note - we shall update these links (several are not currently working) in early 2012. At the moment we have only updated the link to Clive Pinch pages (SkyrmeWeb below). Even though he was the most authoritative researcher on Skyrmes during the last decade our recent research has found one or two errors in his trees - these are explained in the recently published The Skyrmes of Pembrokeshire (1) (PDF 2.5Mb).

• Clive Pinch's pages on Skyrme - Clive was one of the most prolific early researchers who posted Skyrme information on the WWW. Unfortunately this seems to be no longer available except on the WayBack Machine from 2005.
• Skyrme Family in Herefordshire - provides details of Richard Skyrme and descendants (1791-1886)
• Suggest your own family history pages.

Genealogy Links

Links to more general genealogy websites with a particular focus on England and Wales

• Dyfed Family History Society - formed in 1982 when Pembrokeshire was part of Dyfed (it's now independent again!), this website has details of many resources and databases that can be fully accessed by members.
• UK 1901 Census - from the official national archives website (291 Skyrmes).
• Ancestry.co.uk - provides searches of census records 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901: very useful.
• GENUKI - Genealogy UK and Ireland: lists what's available and where (see Pembrokshire). 41 entries showing Skyrme, mostly in Herefordshire 19th cent. trade directories.
• Origins.net - lists 162 entries, mostly census but also some wills and apprentice records.
• Genes Reunited - boasts 925 Skyrmes. You'll need to register and make requests to tree owners to view. Karen Skyrme (author's daughter) contributes.
• Federation of UK Family History Societies - includes pay-per-view databases including 13m burial records.
