Family Bible

For most of the 20th century, this was the 'reference' archive about the family tree. It was passed to James Skyrme (b. 1911) from James Thomas Skyrme (b. 1884) from Thomas Skyrme (b. 1857), from George Skyrme (b. 1819) - the earliest record. Not all recent entries are recorded.

Documents and Records

This section will ultimately provide links to selected documents and records such as diaries and letters. The diaries of James Skyrme (1911-1998) have now been scanned but not yet transcribed. You can find references to them and some abstracts in the recently published The Skyrmes of Pembrokeshire (1) (PDF 2.5Mb). It also includes copies of other non-copyright documents, such as original marriage certificates and various photographs.

Stories and Snippets

This section will provide links to family stories, many of them oral and passed down. Others are extracts from various documents and information from contributors via email.

Photographs

We are currently in the process of recreating online family photo albums that go back to Victorian times. The left margin background throughout this website - and reproduced here - is circa 1908 from a photograph of the author's grandfather and grandmother: James Skyrme (1884-1937) and Ellen (née Harrison 1882-1859).
